Connect an AI assistant to your Dillien data room
You can now connect a Dillien data room to ChatGPT through the Dillien VDR plugin, and bring both documents and the request list straight into Saga. They are the first assistants on a list that keeps growing, and every one is scoped to the access the user already has.
Quick answer: Dillien exposes data room content to approved AI systems, and the list of approved assistants grows as each one clears review. Every connection is made with the user’s own Dillien login, so the assistant sees exactly what that user sees in the room and nothing more. At the time of writing, ChatGPT reads the room directly through the Dillien VDR plugin, and Saga imports documents and the request list into its knowledge base, chat and grid review. What does connecting an AI assistant to a data room actually give you?
A data room already holds the documents a transaction turns on: contracts, corporate records, financial statements, disclosure schedules. Reviewing them still means opening each one, finding the clause and recording what it says.
Connecting an assistant moves that first pass into a conversation. You can ask which agreements contain a change-of-control clause, what the lease terms are across a portfolio, or where the guarantees sit, and get an answer drawn from the actual files in the room rather than from documents downloaded, renamed and uploaded somewhere else. The documents stay where the process is being run, under the access rules the deal team has set.
How is an assistant connected?
Two ways, depending on how the assistant is built. Some read the room live: the assistant asks Dillien for a list of rooms, files or a document each time you put a question to it. Others import: you pick documents from the room and the assistant works on its own copy. Both routes go through the same login and the same access control. The two assistants below show one of each.
How does the ChatGPT plugin work?
Dillien VDR is an approved plugin in ChatGPT, available on every ChatGPT plan, including Free. Setup takes a minute:
- In ChatGPT, open Plugins in the left sidebar, or go to chatgpt.com/plugins (opens an external site).
- Search for Dillien and select Dillien VDR.
- Choose Install plugin.
- Select Sign in with Dillien VDR and log in with your Dillien account.
Once signed in, ChatGPT shows Dillien VDR plugin installed at the top of the page, and the connection is live. From there you can ask ChatGPT to list the data rooms you have access to, browse the files in a room, and read and answer questions about individual documents.
If your firm is on ChatGPT Enterprise, plugins are switched off by default and Dillien VDR will not appear in the search until a workspace admin allows it under Admin › Plugins. On ChatGPT Business, an admin may need to do the same under Workspace settings › Plugins. Ask them to set Dillien VDR to “Available” so you can install it yourself, or “Installed” to have it on for the whole team.
Access is read-only: ChatGPT can look at the room but cannot upload, move or change anything in it. Whatever is restricted for you in Dillien is restricted for the assistant too.
How does the Saga integration work?
Saga is an AI platform built for the work lawyers do across a matter: reviewing documents, extracting key terms, flagging red flags and drafting. The Dillien integration lets you bring the documents and the request list from a data room into that work without leaving Saga — with the written answers, N/A markings, folder notes and text info on the files that go with them.
The Upload from Dillien VDR option appears anywhere you add documents:
- Knowledge base — Upload, then Upload from Dillien VDR
- Chat — the attach button, then Upload from Dillien VDR
- Grid review — Add documents, then Upload from Dillien VDR
When the Upload from Dillien VDR window opens, you sign in with your Dillien account, browse the data rooms you have access to and select the documents to import.
The request list travels with the documents, and so does everything the seller said about it. That is the difference between reviewing a folder of contracts and reviewing them against what was asked for: Saga can see which request a document answers, what the seller wrote about it, and which items were closed without a document.
The import is one-way: documents and the request list are copied into Saga, and changes in either system do not sync to the other. If a document or an answer is updated in the room, import it again.
Saga’s admin turns the integration on under Settings › Integrations. After that, everyone in the firm can connect their own Dillien account when they import files. Who can see what once an assistant is connected?
The same people who could see it before. Each connection is made with an individual Dillien login, so the assistant inherits that user’s permissions: the rooms they are a member of, the folders and documents they have been granted, and nothing outside them. A bidder’s adviser connecting an assistant sees the bidder’s view of the room. A seller-side associate connecting one sees the seller’s.
Every request an assistant makes goes through Dillien’s ordinary access control and is logged like any other activity in the room. Nothing about the connection widens access; it only changes the tool that reads the documents. This holds for every assistant Dillien approves, not only the two described here.
Which assistants are next?

Getting started
If your firm uses ChatGPT, open Plugins, search for Dillien VDR and sign in — and if you are on Enterprise or Business and cannot find it, your workspace admin needs to allow it first. If your firm uses Saga, ask your admin to turn on the Dillien integration under Settings › Integrations.
